Access conditions

The important part on one page: what your ticket gets you, what you can and cannot bring, and what we do if things go wrong. Read it before you buy, not after.

Holding and using a ticket or pass means accepting these conditions.

1. The ticket

  1. Access is limited to the capacity of each area.
  2. The organiser reserves the right to change the programme, the venue and the running times for reasons of force majeure or at short notice.
  3. Ticket money will not be refunded if the event is cancelled because of bad weather, natural disasters, closure of Spanish airspace, strikes or demonstrations, a change of venue, an artist falling ill or dying, or other events of force majeure outside the organiser's control.
  4. Once bought, a ticket cannot be exchanged or refunded under any circumstances, except if the event date changes. Torn or damaged tickets will not be accepted.
  5. You cannot leave and re-enter: a ticket grants one entry only. To come back in you need to buy another ticket at the box office.
  6. The organiser accepts no responsibility for tickets or wristbands lost, stolen or bought through unofficial channels. Tickets are only sold through the official outlets listed on this site.

2. Age

Under Spanish law, entry is not permitted to anyone under 18. Photo ID —national ID card or passport— is required at the entrance.

3. Access and doors

The venue has a single entrance. It gets busy and everyone is searched on the way in, so plan ahead and avoid the peak: better to be inside an hour early than in the queue while your artist is playing.

You cannot bring in alcohol or food. Entry staff and security may search any bag to check.

4. Accessibility

There is a reserved area for people with reduced mobility or a disability, including anyone who is pregnant, and an adapted entrance. It is signposted, and venue staff will point you to it.

5. Prohibited items

  • Sharp objects, glass and metal.
  • Flammable objects.
  • Audio or video recorders and professional cameras. Consumer cameras are fine — ideally without flash, so you don't bother anyone.
  • Food and drink from outside.

There is a security check at the entrance for everyone. Throwing objects of any kind inside the venue is prohibited.

For safety reasons there is no cloakroom, so it is best not to bring more than you need.

6. Safety and medical service

There is a medical area with medical staff, ambulances and a field hospital. If you feel unwell, or you have been in or seen an accident, go there and ask for help.

There will also be firefighters, police and civil protection on site. Tell security about any incident, any sign of assault and anyone behaving aggressively or violently. If there is an evacuation or an emergency, follow the signs.

7. Looking after the place

EMEC takes place somewhere that is not an ordinary venue: the Castillo de San José in Arrecife, which also houses the MIAC contemporary art museum. Keeping it clean is one of our main goals and we hope it is one of yours.

There are separate bins for organic waste, paper and glass around the site. Bars serve in reusable cups.

8. Food and drink

There are bars around the site with bottled water, beer, soft drinks and cocktails, plus places to sit down and eat with a range of food options.

9. Practical advice

  • Bring photo ID. No document, no entry.
  • Drink water: Lanzarote dehydrates you faster than you expect.
  • Cap and sun protection, especially for the first few hours.
  • If you drink, don't drive. There will be extra public transport and temporary taxi ranks, and the organiser provides free parking nearby.

10. Disclaimer

Access to the venue is free and voluntary. By entering, you release the organiser, EMEC CANARIAS PRODUCCIONES, S.L. (tax ID B56191661, C/ Reina Sofía 3, 35510 Puerto del Carmen), from any liability arising from the transmission of communicable diseases between attendees.

11. Image rights

Everyone entering the venue where EMEC Festival takes place — audience, suppliers, subcontractors, staff and artists — grants their image rights to EMEC CANARIAS PRODUCCIONES, S.L. for video and photography and for their use in promoting the event: official videos, images for social media and official communications.
